What do I have to complain about today?
Well, it probably won't be every day, and it probably won't always be a complaint, but once I built a generic news logging script, I decided to do a "stream of consciousness" page, and it needed a name.
All I guarantee is: Stuff will be here, and I will have put it here.
Of course, I always encourage you to whine right back at me.

| January 14, 2003 | Slouching for a Bigger Paycheck I sure wish I could take a day off work to whine about how much my pay increase sucked. |
| November 25, 2002 | I actually really like my new car. But that's not a complaint. OK, I really can't stand whiny, immature, PC, new-age, touchy-feely morons who don't dare offend anyone. Happy? |

Well, hell. I've got the e-mail form working again, but the message board is going to take more work.
In April of last year, either cgis changed from running as 'openhost' to running as 'nobody', or all of the message board files were restored from backup and the owner was set to a default value of 'openhost'. Either way, until I can get the board files back to an ownership that is consistent with the user that cgis run under, the board isn't going to work. That's going to be a pain without command line access to the server.
I may end up having to archive the current board and starting fresh. |

Ah, it seems it may be more complex than that. My discussion board and e-mail form are both dependant on the scripts knowing where in the file system heirarchy certain files exist. Unfortunately, it appears that OneStop chose to shift around my files without notification.
As it has been a while since I first setup these functionalities, it's going to be fun trying to figure out how to fix them. |

ISPs that fail to restore file attributes along with the actual files when a backup is restored. |

People who promise regular content, and don't deliver
Ragging on myself here, for lack of anything else to say. I'm finding that usually by the time I'm in the mood to bitch about something, I'm too tired to type it up. |

"It compiles. Ship it!"
The never-ending attitude of development, it drives those of us in the quality assurance field nuts. |

Scripture as evidence in open forumsRecently on my "Rant" board someone posted a biblical reference as proof of their argument. Now, I know a lot of nice people who do this, and in a closed discussion with people you know to be like-minded, I have no problem with this. But, on an open-global forum (for example, here), you have to face the fact that the majority of readers won't accept your scripture of choice as divine, and of those that do, some percentage is going to believe it to be open to some level of interpretation. So, when speaking to the world at large, please stick to things we can all observe in the comfort of our physical existances. |
